Monday, July 8 -- Summer Arts presents Swords and Shakespeare, a combat presentation
CSU Summer Arts begins the second week of its summer festival with a performance of Swords and Shakespeare. Audience members will be treated to a behind-the-scenes look into how the actors and directors create the illusion of danger both onstage and on screen. Performance artists will use a range of weapons including medieval broadswords to depict the realism and suspense of today’s fight scenes. Join acclaimed actors and fight directors Amie Root, Jess Prichard, David Sterritt, Tony Carreiro and Marc LeClerc for an evening of intense movement based on the history, romance, and action of William Shakespeare’s work.

July 1 through July 31, 2019 -- The Logger Steam Train Rides at Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad Rides
An exciting 4-mile railroad excursion located near the south gate of Yosemite National Park. Ride into history where powerful locomotives once hauled massive log trains through the Sierra Mountains. Where mighty lumberjacks felled the timber, and flumes carried lumber to the distant valley below. The Sierra National Forest’s majestic woods provide the backdrop for this narrow gauge journey back in time.

Monday, July 15, 2019 -- Indira Pensado performs at Fresno State
Time: 7:00 P.M.
Location: John Wright Theatre, Fresno State
“Crastchep” is a solo performance that synthesizes dance, music and theater to create an abstract portrait of the soul. As an actor and director, Pensado is known for the powerful use of the voice and body on stage.

Tuesday, July 16, 2019 -- “A Life in Animation” with Vinton Heuck
Join CSU Summer Arts for a lively discussion and retrospective look at Vinton Heuck’s 20 years of work as a storyboard artist and director in the field of television animation. Heuck will cover his work in the related fields of video games and comics, as well as the development of his original series of sword and sorcery graphic novels, “Mabigon.” Heuck is a guest artist for Summer Art’s “Creature Workshop for Animation” and has done professional work for gaming companies, comic books, and cartoons for more than 20 years.
